2023-10-07

Fell at age 20

Rotem was a spirited young man with a giant heart, a funny and loyal friend who always helped others. He loved life and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He began his journey with Magen David Adom at age 15 as a youth volunteer in the Gilboa Region, part of the first class of Magen David Adom youth volunteers in the community of Shimshit. Rotem deeply loved volunteering for Magen David Adom, which served as an expression of his desire to help others.

In the IDF, he served as a combat soldier in the Paratroopers Brigade. On the morning of October 7th, he was called up from his home in Shimshit to the south. He first arrived in the Sderot area, where, under fire, he attempted to assist civilians wounded on the roadside. When he heard what was happening in Kfar Aza, he joined a force of soldiers entering the kibbutz to aid the residents. He fell in battle against terrorists.

Rotem is survived by his parents, a brother, a sister, and his partner.

A Magen David Adom ambulance bearing his name was dedicated in his memory and stationed in Shimshit, thus continuing his life-saving mission.

May his memory be a blessing.
